Being a woman is not easy.
Men look at us from far and debate on whether or not she is physically attractive enough to be seen at the end of his arm. Does she have the "it" factor. Basically is she hot!
Is she beautiful enough, curvy enough?
Are her eyes like Lauren hill's and is her skin like Gabrielle Union . Do her lips look like Angelina's and is her bottom like Beyonce's? If its not, she's not the one. Nah not for me...
If only they knew that being us is not being beautiful.
There is nothing beautiful about waking up to feel a lump in your left breast. There is nothing attractive about having to remove your womb due to infection. There is nothing sexy about a pap smear. And nothing stunning about a cyst.
As men you pay more of your attention on the booty we need. The bust size we lack and the acne we need to get rid of. You see the stretch marks we hate, the cellulite we try to hide. You focus so much on the could have been and forget all about the monthly pains we endure. The possibilities of cancer that lurk at our every doctors appointment.
The probable chance of being told we can't conceive a child. The maybe that I won't live to see my daughter turn 5.
Next time you undress a woman with your mind, or you judge her based on her looks and immediately dismiss her because of it.
Know that she is a woman of strength regardless of what she looks like.
A woman who walks around thin, frail and bold from chemo but still wearng her red lips stick and sunglasses on her way to church with pride...
That is beauty!
